After Friday prayer at the Al Ghufran mosque, went to a restaurant next to Shell petrol station on Persiaran Sultan Abdul Hamid (formerly Jalan Pegawai) to buy packed lunch. It is opposite Maktab Mahmud (Putri). It not a posh restaurant with elegently display interior or air conditioned. With the hot and humid surrounding, sometimes patron have to sweat while enjoying their lunch but still table are full.
People do not care about status of a restaurant as long it can satisfy their urge to eat. The restaurant is called RN Teguh and of course food is tasty. Hence it attract diners.
The specialty is Ayam Kampung, freshly fried and you can eat it while its sizzling hot. The only setback is you have to wait for the chicken being fried is there is many peole ordered it. Of course they do not fry and put it into the tray since it will cool off and the taste subsides. Ayam kampung feels tastier when it is still hot. Besides the ayam kampung you can also savour the ikan kembung curry.
To make it a crowd puller especially for lunch, they have variety of local dishes and sometimes you have loss of choice. The restaurant is open daily from 8.00 a.m. till 5.00 in the evening except on the first Saturday of every month since offices in Alor Setar close on that day.

Ayam kampung being fried an in the wok on the right is the Ikan kembung curry.

Lunch hour at RN Teguh restaurant. Its Friday and a weekend holiday in Kedah, hence not many people today.
